Join us on a tour to the Madonna statue on 1020 m high Bjønneskortenatten in Eggedal. The Madonna trail runs about 3 km and 160 altitude meters.
The statue “Madonna with child” is carved in light granite by artist Turid Angell Eng. It was unveiled and blessed in the summer of 2009. The statue is located about 100 m outside the protection boundary of the Trillemarka-Rollagsfjell nature reserve, and from here we have 360 degrees magnificent views west to Storvatn, Buvatn and Gaustadtoppen, when the weather permits. In the south you may see Skodøl and Nedalsfjellet, Sølandsfjellet to the east and Norefjell to the north.
The Trillemarka-Rollagsfjell nature reserve, with its almost 148 square kilometers, is Norway’s largest coniferous forest reserve. The area was protected in January 2008.
Wear good-moving clothing and dress according to weather conditions. Note that there is usually some wind at the top. Hat and mittens are needed. On our feet we have hiking boots. Our TUBB snowshoes are easy to walk with, claws underneath provide good grip on hard ground. In addition, we have telescope rods.
We recommend that you bring an extra sweater, a snack and drinking water on this trip. Please note that recommended minimum age for participation on this trip is 13 years, due to our snowshoe sizes.
