Alpacas are friendly animals, curious to humans, and also to other animal species. However, they are not pets, so in order to get in close contact with the alpacas we must let them control the meeting with us on their terms. The tranquil atmosphere of the flock infects us, and it has been found that contact with alpacas provides pleasant stimuli to people with challenges in life.
The company Norsk Alpakka (“Norwegian Alpaca”) is operated from the alpaca farm in Sigdal. The vision is to get people to discover the amazing properties of alpaca products. The material is supersoft and hypoallergenic. In addition, the alpacas have 250 natural shades of color.
At the alpaca farm in Sigdal we offer several alpaca experiences within the concept “From animals to consumer-ready products”:
Individuals and small groups of up to 5 people get to meet the alpacas, hear lectures on how and why we manage alpacas, and then feed the animals by hand. The visit is priced per hour.
Groups of up to 45 people will receive lectures on the alpaca team on the farm, coffee and home baked cake, as well as lectures on the entrepreneurial company Norsk Alpakka and the new alpaca abattoir. Duration: 3 hours.
It will be possible to buy products before or after the lectures. It is also possible to order a meal, catered from local producers and served in the premises on the farm. Our visit at Alpakka Sigdal is adapted for wheelchair users.
